I went there last summer and took the boat tour of the bay and Alcatraz which gives you some amazing views of the city and the entire bay area.

I also did a walking tour of the city on my own, which was nice because it allowed me to stop into some small and neat places that guided tours may not have gone. Particullarly my walk through Chinatown on which I stopped into one of the many restaurants, which was great.

Pier 39 is also a good place to get some food and see some cool street performances, and dont forget to check out the golden gate.
