Smile Re: Best Things To Do In Portugal

Portugal will meet your wishes and expectations. The cliff colours due to soil variations and the ocean colours and sounds are unbelievable. The view ancient fortresses and castles, farmyards, olive groves, and cork trees.
But is not only the breathtaking scenery, there is the fantastic culinary experience as well! Things To Do In Portugal, in the countryside there is The Alentejo Province is a region of wide plains to the south of the Tagus River (Rio Tejo). Further south, the landscape becomes warmer and flatter; around Évora (one of the most beautiful towns in Portugal), are Monsaraz, Vila Viçosa, Estremoz, and Arraiolos (renowned for its hand made tapestries, based on traditional drawings from the 17th and 18th centuries). Driving on to the south, the vast plains become less inhabited and sunnier, the only shade being provided by olive trees and oak trees, and the only amenity being provided by refreshing dams. A trip to Alvito, Beja (where one can stay in historic pousadas), Serpa and Mértola will be worth your time. The coastline to the west offers the visitor magnificent Atlantic beaches. By the ocean you have Algarve, you will see the most beautiful Portuguese Beaches. Albufeira is famed for its beaches, for the countless shades and tones of its rocks and cliffs. This is a place where people live to the rhythim of the great holiday destinations, sunbathing during the day and at sunset flocking to enjoy the restaurants, bars and discos that enliven the night-time hours. And there is Lagos in the real west of Algarve. Thought by many to be the best town in the Algarve, Lagos is away from the main tourist hussle and bustle, and yet there is always something going on. There is a great Portugal event in the Algarve at the time of your visit Festival do Marisco which is all about the seafood and begins in the second week of August. Shellfish is the star of this revered festival and if you love seafood don’t miss it!
Zoomarine is one of the Algarve´s biggest attractions and certainly lives up to the hype. Open all year round, entry tickets are very reasonably priced, and you can spend a fun packed day at the park with plenty to keep all the family entertained. The spectacular shows include: Dolphins in Motion - a breath-taking demonstration of the dolphins’ agility, intelligence and the special bond they have with their trainers. I could have watched this show several times over, especially as the routine varies from show to show to keep the dolphins stimulated. The Magic Book - a pantomime performed by seals, sea lions and their trainers. This show gets lots of laughs and applause from the audience and is definitely one that the kids will enjoy. The Enchanted Forest - a slap stick show with tropical birds that promotes environmental awareness. Sweeping the Skies - a dramatic and educational birds of prey display, which allows you to see these remarkable birds very close up!
I`m sure your kids would love it, showing over 20 marine ecosystems, and several marine life habitat exhibitions scattered around the park.
What I liked most about Zoomarine, is that all the animal shows and exhibitions are educational and promote awareness of environmental and conservation issues. These messages are further reinforced by the ConScience Exhibition and the brand new 4D cinema. There is also the opportunity to swim with the dolphins in the dolphin interaction area. This is located in a beautiful, tranquil environment, hidden away from the main park and for €140 the programme includes an educational talk and the chance to take part in some of the basic training techniques in the water with the dolphins. This is a truly magical experience which is top of my to-do list next time I visit.
Another nice place to visit is the ancient city of Conimbriga is a short drive or bus ride from Coimbra, an attractive university town halfway between Lisbon and Oporto. It's the largest Roman settlement in Portugal and is well worth visiting on any tour of the country's central and northern regions,
Conimbriga Ruins.
I hope this gives you an idea of all the things to do in Portugal, more information here: Flights To Portugal, Hotels in Algarve, Castelo de Sao Jorge, Oceanario de Lisboa. Have a great time in Portugal!
