I do entirely agree with not renting cars it depends on the person and how adventerous you are. I've rented cars in Peru and many other countries and find I like the freedom its affords in not being tied to a bus route and time table great. But be forewarned anything could happen such a police extortion, hijackings, flat tires, etc. I've had them all happen and I'm still alive!
