Hi, With your planned vacation destinations all being in the southern part of California, the temperature is still warm in both September and October.
San Diego, High in Sept averages 77’F to a low off 65’F in September, which only drops a few degrees in October, 75’F- 60’F.
L.A and Helmet have temperatures averaging from 90’F – 62’F in September, and October still looking good at 80’F – 55’F.
I would say over all September is your best bet, but October looks good as well, especially if was early October.
