Barcelona is a city steeped in culture and history. If it is some sight-seeing you’re after then Barcelona is the right place. The weather here is usually clear and hot and this can only add to your day’s enjoyment, walking the streets taking in the breath taking architecture. There are many highlights considered a must see in Barcelona, a few of these highlights are listed below.

Casa Batllo - Barcelona is most famous for the fantastical architecture of Antonio Gaudi. One of these buildings is the Casa Batilo. From the outside this building needs to be seen to be believed. It looks as if it has been made from skulls and bones. The ‘Skulls’ are actually the balconies and the ‘bones’ are the pillars that support it. This is simialr to the design seen used on the Casa Mila House

Park Guell – This Park is another of Antonio Gaudi’s designs. The park is filled with amazing stone structures, stunning tiling and fantastic buildings. At the top of Guell park there is a terraced area where you can get a fabulous view of the park and of Barcelona city. The park itself is rather large so to fully enjoy the experience you would need to devote most of your day to this trip itself. Finally the park also includes a small house where Gaudi lived. This house has since been turned into a museum but it is worth a look as it now contains more of gaudis interesting designs this time in the form of furniture.

La Sagrada Familia – No surprise to tell you that this giant temple is also one of Antonio Gaudi’s creations. This one however is probably his most famous. This huge building has been under construction since 1882!! Works are not expected to be completed for another 30-80 years! Many would argue that this is the main highlight for anybody planning a trip to Barcelona due to its sheer beauty. Inside you can also take a tour of the museum going as high up as the top turrets. Not recommended to those afraid of heights. There are tours available which will take you around several of Gaudi’s buildings and the tour operators will give you all the information you would need to know.

Barcelona Cathedral – This is a giant cathedral situated in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona. It is based in the old town and when visiting you will be surrounded by cafes, restaurants and street performers. This is another tourist attraction considered to be one of the best in Barcelona simple because of its beauty and charm.

The Ramblas – Take a walk along the infamous Ramblas which is considered the hub of the city. Lots of short winding streets it is popular with locals and tourists alike. Usually full of street theatre, cafés and market stalls.

Salvador Dali Museum – To visit this musuem you can book yourself on a coach tour. On your trip you travel through the historic town of Girona until arriving in Figueres. See the various collections of Salvador Dalí's work, a unique compilation in terms of quantity, scope and depth.
