Re: Merida Mexico hotels The Hotel Marionetas is arround your price range. There start from $95 per night. It is an old puppet theater which now has beautiful decor, a garden, courtyard and pool. The hotel is right in the centre of Merida and is handy for most attractions.
The city is probably best known, though, as the point of entry for exploring the ancient Mayan world. Archeological zones such as the the pyramids at Chichén Itzá and Uxmal make popular day trips. Several subterranean rivers attract swimmers, scuba-divers, and naturalists. Also a popular day trip are the national parks and visits to see the wild flamingo. There are buses which tracel back and forth between the ruins at Palenque and for around $20 you can take the bus to the ruins in Belize and Guatemala. Of course there are also beautiful beaches where you can spend the day relaxing |
