Luxor and the Pyramids are in different parts of Egypt.
You'd have get a flight or take a cruise up the Nile, so give yourself a couple of days.
The Pyramids themselves are fantastic, I went to the “Great Pyramid” which is in Cairo. It’s the most famous and has a couple others around it. You also get to go in which is a once in a lifetime experience. As its so hot the tours are mainly in the morning, before lunch. There are light shows in the evening, but I never got to see one.
For photo’s I’d suggest the early morning. But not right at them. Travel a mile or so beyond.
Egypt itself is safe’ish. The locals will drive you mad, they just don’t take no for an answer. But there are police out in great numbers who’s sole job is to look after tourists. Unfortunately travelling across the countryside is still dangerous. Therefore the buses go in convoys, with police escorts. Don’t let that put you off because tourism is their biggest industry so they really look after you. |
