It's only 44 miles and take couple of hours ride from
La Paz to Tiahuanaco and many tour companies arrange day trips out there. We have visited in June and the Aymara New Year celebrations was held during that time. So many special buses arrived from La Paz, and we also went to Tiahuanaco by bus. The main event is sunrise, so the bus reached
Tiahuanaco on-time before sun rise. The celebration was fabulous with music, dance and nice drinks.
The Tihauanaco ruin is a wonderful archaeological site with some remains of pre-Inca culture, they are fascinating and well worth a visit. And my tour guide explained all about its
history and it was amazing. I took many photos here and they are quiet good. Also we have seen some other places including Akapana pyramid, Kalasasaya Temple, Puerta del Sol, Semi-subterranean Temple and Puma Punku. Hope you have a nice time!
