Anyone driving from Anchorage to Homer around June 20th?

Flying into Anchorage June 20th and I need to get to homer...anyone driving? Ill throw some gas money your way! And get conversation!

Here it is my itinerary:

Im looking to fly into Anchorage, pick up RV from the Great Alaskan Holidays and head towards Seward. Then, I plan to spend 3 nights in Millers Landing doing Halibut Fishing one day and spending the other 2 days in Kenai Fjords National Park.

From Seward I'll head to Kenai and visit Girdwood, then head to Denali, 3 nights in Riley Creek with Rafting, ATV, and tour to wonder lake.

Does anyone think I should get the toursaver book? is it worth it?

There is plenty to do in and around Anchorage to keep you busy, but if it's your first trip to Alaska and are renting a car in Anchorage for your vacation it may be worth the time to drive to Homer.

There is a wonderful wildlife refuge on the way there, just past Girdwood Girdwood along the Seward Hwy. It's well worth an hour or two to visit it. You can also have a picnic along the Kenai River, on the Sterling Hwy.

Once you spend a few days in anchorage, you could then drive to fairbanks and spend the bulk of your trip around Fairbanks area to see if you can catch the Northern Lights.

By the way, the drive between Anchorage and Fairbanks in the winter time can be snowy and icy, but if the weather cooperates, you will be rewarded with gorgeous scenery along the way.

June should be a good month for driving around Anchorage, but if you plan to drive in Yukon you must be aware that the mountains get pretty steep, so you will need a 4x4 vehicle.

Also, it's best you rent a car before you get to Alaska..i.e booking your flight+car rental together as renting cars in the Anchorage area is pretty expensive.

As far as weather, Anchorage's weather stays fairly mild summer, but there are spurts where it drops below zero for a week or so at a time so pack a few sweaters.
