| Junior Member | You might think of Alaska as cold and nothing but ice and glaciers, even though in the summer the highs are in the 50's and lows in the 40's its still not that cold . There are actually many things to do.1.Alaska's capital Juneau has many Cruises and ships that come threw every year. 2.Museum of Alaska is also located in Juneau, with the museum having a great exhibit on the history of Alaska tourism. 3.Flight seeing, gives you a extraordinary view of Alaska's great landscapes and water. 4.Salmon fishing, is a great relaxer and could be either a solitary thing or good for the whole family, or just something to instead of sitting in your room. | Moderator Jr Member | I would add wildlife watching to the list. Many of the places in the state are home to some wonderful places to spot wildlife. Along the Kenai Peninsula, it's easy to spot whales and seals playing in the ocean. In the interior, you might spot eagles, moose, bears and other amazing animals. Of course, you want to keep a safe distance, so it might be best to take a guided expedition or watch for wildlife from one of the train rides. There's also the Alaska Sea Life Center in Seward, which actively works to preserve and save wildlife. They're home to more cute critters than anywhere else in Alaska. :)

| Boy! Alaska is BIG! if you love the outdoors you will be in your element here. All you need to do is determine what type of activities and adventures you want to do and Alaska will take care of the rest. I personally recommend visiting Denali Park where you can take a monster truck tour into the park which is really fun. Scenic drives are also big in Alaska: you can take a drive from anchorage to Seward and Homer to see breathtaking scenery. From Homer, you will be able to do flightseeing over the glaciers, fishing, and a boat trip over to Seldovia where you could take an ATV ride up the mountain. |

| have you ever thought about taking a cruise to Alaska? Also, in Juneau there as several bus companies that will shuttle you to the Hubbard Glacier visitor's center parking lot where you can explore on your own. Another thing you can do is hop on the Skagway..the train up to the pass is interesting, but you can also hike a trail in that direction and turn back when ready. In Ketchikan you can do the totem pole visits, Saxman Village, etc. You can also do a fishing tour like halibut fishing, salmon fishing or fly fishing on a private charter which is a lot of fun, though be aware that chartering is going to cost you more than fishing on your own along a river or coastline. |
