Argentina

Argentina is filled with lush rainforests, wild animals, and mountainous terrain. Transportation is key with such a large country, many tourists choose to take a train few travel by car. For the outdoor enthusiasts, Argentina is home to the Andes Mountains. Enjoy trekking trips, skiing or snowboarding.

Default Argentina

Am going to Argentina at the end of sept travelling through buenos aires and over to rosario to play hockey.
After the festival I would like to go across to the andes and down to terra del feugo.

Can anyone give me details on flights inbound and the airlines that would be the cheapest to fly on early oct 2007

Where are you flying out of/in to as far as the states go? Your trip sounds pretty gosh darn fun, I hope I or someone else can help.

Hi Kara, if you are not planning to travel through Bolivia or Chile, you can fly from Lima to Buenos Aires, the airlines providing that route are Aerolineas Argentinas, Lan, TACA and Gol. The, once in Buenos Aires, you can travel to Rosario by bus (aprox 4 to 5 hours), the cost is about 13 US dollars, buses are comfortable, route is good and you will save a lot of $$$ busing instead of flying. The place you should visit in Tierra del Fuego is Ushuaia, if you have time to spend in Argentina, I would combine a tour with Puerto Madryn (to see whales and penguins) and El Calafate (to see glaciers). October is high season peryod in Argentina, so I would suggest you plan in advance. I don't know what is your style of accommodation that's why I'm not suggesting anything, but you will find in Buenos Aires, Rosario & Ushuaia all the types. Regarding the cheapest to fly, the earliest you book, the best fares for international flights. On domestic flights, Argentina has a strange policy of applying higher rates to foreing people, so prices do not change much, I would recommend to book in advance to Ushuaia because in high season there are cruises leaving from there to Antarctica and availability can be tricky. Hope this helps, Marcos

Thank you for the information
What website would I book the flights to Ushuaia? and Lima? roughly how much would it cost and what would be the cheapest way to go... rosario to lima then lima to Uahuaia and then back to Buenos Aires? Hotel would be preferred from 3* up as we wish to stay 3 days in each place as I will have done a week in rosario playing hockey.

thanks

Kara

Have you thought of doing an overland trip? Last year a friend and I travelled from Buenos Aires through to Santiago with an overland company called Dragoman and really had a good time. One of the best bits was that we got to spend three days at an Argentine Estancia living alongside the Gauchos... If you are into horses this makes an amazing journey. There is loads to see and do you don't miss the country by flying. If you like hiking, riding and trekking, its a great trip

check out their website dragoman.com We went on the TGA trip from Rio to Santiago

Its just an idea, but try travelling overland rather than flying

Happy travels
