Argentina

Argentina is filled with lush rainforests, wild animals, and mountainous terrain. Transportation is key with such a large country, many tourists choose to take a train few travel by car. For the outdoor enthusiasts, Argentina is home to the Andes Mountains. Enjoy trekking trips, skiing or snowboarding.

Default Re: Restrictions to travel from La Quiaca to

Bolivia may be one of the poorest countries in South America, but its cultural wealth, the vastly differing Amazonian and Andean landscapes, and the remnants of mysterious ancient civilizations make it a rich and exciting destination if you're looking for more than postcards. Bolivia is a premier adventure travel destination. The fifth-largest country in South America, it is one of the most geographically diverse countries in the world. The Altiplano, a high mountain plateau where Andean civilization first developed, lies between two ranges of the Andes mountains that tower over 23,000 feet. Visitors come to this region to experience the amazingly beautiful waters, landscapes, and cultures of Lake Titicaca, largest lake in South America and one of the highest navigable lakes in the world. Bolivia's terrain ranges from spectacular Andean peaks to dense Amazonian rain forests, such as the jungles of Madidi National Park, Noel Kempf Mercado National Park on the border with Brazil.
And adventure! Bolivia has hikes and treks along Inca trails, jungle tours, bird watching, wild mountain bike adventures, fishing, mountain climbing, sailing on Lake Titicaca, travel on jungle rivers, Spanish colonial towns, and interesting archeological sites. All that, as well as incredible mountain scenery, and the surreal landscape around the world's largest salt lake at Uyuni. As far as I know Bolivia is cheaper than Argentina. Bolivian food is distinctive and is generally good. Dishes are dominated by meat. International- and local style restaurants are available in La Paz and other main towns.Tipping: It is customary to add 10% as a tip to the 13% service charge added to hotel and restaurant bills. Porters also expect tips for each piece of luggage. Bolivia is now able to offer international visitors a unique, safe, affordable, and extremely interesting place to visit.
So I suggest, that you take a look here for more information things to do, and also Bolivia hotels. Hope this can give you an idea.

Thumbs up Re: Restrictions to travel from La Quiaca to

I would visit Yavi, it is a town lost in time... really nice as an experience when looking for no tourist but interesting places... From La Quiaca you cross to Villazon in Bolivia and there are trains available to Uyuni... here're schedules http://www.fca.com.bo/Servicios_arch...itinerario.jpg -Spanish- and prices in the Bolivian currency (Bolivianos). In Uyuni you can find the greatest Salt Flat. Bolivia is safe and cheap, accommodations are simple but you can find good places, food is good but you have to mind the altitude and cleaness... hope that info helps... cheers!!
