Since I now reside in the Northwest the thing I miss the most about Arizona is their specific style of Mexican food. My favorite place (kinda hole in the wall but amazing food) is Silvia’s Lacanasta on 7th avenue in Phoenix and I always order the red and green chili with huge home made flour tortillas. Scottsdale has great shopping and the mall of choice is The Galleria. If you’re in to the music seine you have to visit Mill Avenue in Tempe which has great night life and lots of little clubs (it’s also a great place to go and just have a cup of coffee and people watch). Sedona is one of the most amazing places I’ve been (picture a mini Grand Canyon that’s been taken over by artists). Oak creak which runs through Sedona is great place to swim and hang out though I would skip the over crowded slide rock and go to the less known and far less crowded grasshopper point (and grasshopper point is free).

TravelGirl,

Thanks for the tidbits on Top things to do in Arizona. I did take a look at Grasshopper point http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/coconino/rec...pper-pic.shtml and in the good ole days it was free but now they are charging for parking. Fee: $7 per vehicle per day (up to 5 people). Walk-ins are $1.00 per person. No matter it sounds like a great little adventure in Arizona.

This is in the Red Rock District which looks amazing. Here's a photo that has some great mountains in the background.

My sister will work in Sedona as a nurse. She thought of the place as desolate because of the mountains and deserts which Arizona is well known for. I know there are a lot of great things for her to do there and I will tell her all about what TravelGirl said here. I'm sure my sister would like to know about Arizona more.

We'd be glad to help out your sister! Just let her know the address to our forum so she can post her questions or you can also post any of her questions for her. What kinds of things does your sister like to do in her spare time?

Destination360 has a Top Things To Do list for Arizona that she may want to check out for some ideas.

If you ever head down to Tucson, I would really recommend Sabino Canyon for walks, or the desert museam. Both are outstanding. What I miss most about Tucson (lived there five years) is the way that you can get Mexican food as if it were normal fast food (but I'm talking real mexican food - not Taco Bell). If you're ever down that way, try out Nico's and you'll see what I mean ^_^

If you would like a challenging hike with a great view at the top then I would suggest the flatiron trail at the Lost Dutchman Park east of Mesa.

Oh there is also a neat little ghost town east of Mesa on your way to the Lost Dutchman Park.
