| My boyfriend and I are going to travel through Arizona (from San Diego) on our way to New Mexico in an Isuzu truck. We want to camp along the way and we were wondering if anyone has any tips or advice. Also, what would be the best month to go? We're interested in areas that aren't too crowded. Thanks! | Hi Jill, I'd recommend Arizona in either March-April-May or Sept-Oct in terms of the best time to go, although everyone's opinion will vary. I'm sure you're well aware that the summer months can get a little warm. The winter months can get a little chilly/snowy for camping, depending on where you are, but I don't think it's anything you wouldn't be able to handle if you're an experienced camper. As for where, I've only been once, and to one place, and I loved it. So I'll throw a vote out for Oak Creek Canyon in Coconino National Forest (Sedona). Great hiking and greater views. If you don't have a camera borrow one! |

| It's not quite camping out, but Medera Canyon (near Tucson) has outstanding romantic cabins for very affordable prices. Certain times of the year can get very busy as it's one of the most popular bird watching places around. |

| Are you going to Arizona for any particular reason? Say, the Grand Canyon? If you are, then why not camp up on the Northeast Campgrounds of the Grand Canyon. The Mather Campground might be a good choice for you if you need the restrooms and the shower. It's a little town all on its own on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. It doesn't, however, have any fishing around. So, if you're into the fishing, maybe the Bright Angel Campground. It's pretty popular. |
