hi there,

When it comes to food in Austria, you can enjoy a range of intriguing dining experiences such as the popular Goulash, which came from Hungary, and is prepared all over Austria. Goulash is a savory stew of beef that is spiced with paprika.

In Salzburg, the most renowned dessert specialty is called Salzburger Nockerlin. It is a type of meringue pie, and because of its creamy peaks, it is said to resemble the Alps that dominate the nearby countryside.

Austrians enjoy also fresh fish from the lakes and rivers such as the salmon trout that can be caught in Austria's Salzkammergut lake district.

Salmon trout has a flesh and roe that are quite like those of salmon.

Also worth trying when visiting Salzburg or Innsbruck is pheasant, wild boar, and moufflon, which is a peculiar kind of wild sheep.

Don't miss the wine of course: Duernsteiner, Gumpoldskirchner, Grinzinger, Nussdorfer, Riesling and Veltliner.

Wiener schnitzel, goulash and various strudels are Austrian specialties and dont miss foods with small dumplings and Viennese pastries as they are all good. try it out in coffee shops and its heaven

You can taste these dishes:

The Cuisine of Austria, which is often incorrectly equated with Viennese cuisine, is derived from the cuisine of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

In addition to native regional traditions it has been influenced above all by Hungarian, Czech, Jewish, and Italian cuisines, from which both dishes and methods of food preparation have often been borrowed. Goulash is one example of this.

Austrian cuisine is known primarily in the rest of the world for its pastries and sweets. In recent times a new regional cuisine has also developed which is centred on regional produce and employs modern and easy methods of preparation.
