Planning a very special surprise for my husband's 50th and our 20th wedding anniversary. Booked a trip to Barbados, Heywoods Park a villa called Portzvue over looking St. Johns Marina. Will be there for three weeks in December and spend Xmas holiday there. Anyone familiar with this area please share advice. Details on the villa and neighborhood would be terrific. The location, ocean view are extremely important details to us.

I'm hoping to connect and find folks who will share their experiences of Barbados so that I am able to make the trip is perfect. Scuba and golf are very important, great beaches, local venues love to find local fare, fresh fish and farmers markets, bakeries and eateries. Any advice on the "must do, must see" kind of stuff would be much appreciated. Also looking for help on rental car affordability. What I have found is very expensive. Any information is greatly appreciated!

Many thanks!

Hi there,

Portzvue is located on the west coast of Barbados in an affluent and upscale area overlooking Port St Charles marina.

There plenty of fun things to do in Barbados such as swimming, diving, snorkeling, etc.

Some must-see places in Barbados are:

* The Orchid World, which is an orchid garden situated on a six acre plot of land where you can see thousands of species of orchids in varieties of colors and life stages.

* The Barbados Wildlife Reserve, which is located in St. Peter's town. It is a lovely place where you can see animals such as deer, monkeys, etc.

For an exciting night out then, the place to hang out is the Oistins fish fry village, which is located in the south of Barbados.

The Oistins fish fry village comes alive every Friday evening where the locals and visitors gather there to eat fresh fish and drink rum while listening to reggae, jazz, etc. It really is a relaxed atmosphere with a great vibe where everyone has a good time.

You can rent a car in the capital city of Bridgetown from one of Barbados car rental companies there.

Renting a car in Barbados is straight forward and all you require is a driver's license. You are looking at $20 to $50 per day depending on the vehicle model, etc.

Hope this helps
