hi there,

The two main staples on the majority of dishes in Belize include rice and beans. Black beans are sometimes used by Belizeans, but they tend to lean more towards smaller red beans.

Vegetables, fish, chicken, beef, or pork are all served with rice and beans with regularity in Belize. Some of the restaurants in Belize that offer Belize traditional food will often cook their rice and beans in coconut milk, which is a decidedly Caribbean flare.

Plantains, which are similar to bananas, are often served fried with meals, which is a tasty Belize traditional food habit.

If you are in Belize City I recommend you the Riverside Tavern or a visit to Old Belize Restaurant for some nice meals. If you are in the Cayes you can try the tastes of El Pation or Elvi's Kitchen which are quite popular. I also recommend treasures that newly opened in Ambergris Caye.
