I'm going to be flying from London with the intent to eventually end up in La Paz, but I've heard that flying to Lima and then bussing to La Paz is the cheaper way to go. What is the *least expensive* way I can get from London to Bolivia? I should mention that I am the kind of traveller who can endure any condition of train, plane or automobile for any amount of time. Money is of the essence in this situation. Any and all help is *greatly* appreciated. Thanks! -Danny

you can check here Airlines to Bolivia, the major airport in Bolivia, called El Alto (the high ones) is only 8.5 miles north of La Paz so if you fly to that one you are not to far from where you want to be. The flights to Bolivia from London takes about 14 hours. A number of airlines offer direct service. United Airlines, Iberia, Continental, Lufthansa, KLM, and United Airlines are airlines you can utilize when you book your flight to Bolivia. Taxis in Bolivia are everywhere, and most rides don't cost more than $1-4 USD. I good rule of thumb is to tell the driver where you want to go and agree on a price beforehand. If he asks you how to get there simply flag down another taxi. You can read more about this here Bolivia Transportation. Also another link that you should take a look Things to do in Bolivia. I hope this helps and have a good time!

Your right it is cheaper to fly to Lima and take a TACA flight to La Paz, you might save $100 US. Or if you really don't mind taking some extra time hop a cheap bus from Lima and see the country of Peru. Go through Puno and spend some time on Lake Titicaca. Its amazing!

There are a couple bus lines that run out of Lima. Try http://www.cruzdelsur.com.pe/ You'll go from Lima to Arequipa and look for either Arequipa to Puno ( if you want to see titicaca) or there may be a direct to La Paz.
