Default Brazil Travel - Pantanal

The Amazon may have all the fame and glory, but the Pantanal is a far more robust place in Brazil to see wildlife. The thick forest of the Amazon overflows in animal life, but due to the dense vegetation animals are difficult to spot. The more open vegetation of the Pantanal offers easier possibilities to come eye to eye with monkeys, Caimans, and even anacondas. This vast area of wetlands, about the size Portugal, lies in the far west of Brazil and extends into the border regions of Bolivia and Paraguay.

This link can tell you a little more if you are interested in traveling in that area....the whens, hows, and whys:

...plus a few tips to know when heading into this area. Cash is king in this area, as there are not credit card friendly places and you will not stumble into an ATM. US dollars can easily be changed, but to ensure a better exchange rate, you should change either in Campo Grande or Cuiaba.

Have fun!
