Brazil

Brazil is host to modern cities, sunny beaches, the Amazon River, and colonial towns. The Amazon provides nature lovers with jungle tours and river boat tours. Rio de Janiero has a combination of beaches, sports, sun, gardens and perfect for those looking for fun in the sun during the day and dancing in the night.

Default Iguassu Falls, Brazil

My husband & I are going to Buenos Aires and want to take an overnight trip to see the Falls. I understand flying is the best way to get to the area. Can anyone recommend a quaint, but clean and safe hotel in the area? What is the best way to get around there (bus tours, private driver, etc)? Any other suggestions are welcome.

I stayed at the Tropical Hotel das Cataratas (011-45-521-7000, doubles from $143), a charming, Caribbean-style pink stucco resort on the Brazilian side. There's also Sheraton Internacional Iguazu Resort a Modern Hotel situated in Iguazu National Park, overlooking waterfalls & Devil's Gorge both have a similar price range. The nice thing aobut these two are the proximity to the falls vs traveling into town to stay.

If money is an object, a host of perfectly adequate tourist hotels line the access roads outside both national park and bargain accommodations can be found in the cities of Foz do Iguacu (Brazil) and Puerto Iguazu (Argentina).

If your on a time schedule you'll find a tour or private driver to be a better use of your time. If you have the time and money take a helicopter ride over the falls. This is really amazing to see form the air and they drop down pretty low.. truely memorable.

Have you seen the falls yet? How was it? I have plans to go see them one day. It's absolutely gorgeous in pictures.

Here's a virtual tour I shot of Iguassu Falls that gives a 360 degree perspective. This is one of my top ten natural wonders I've seen in the world

I think you'll find most people visiting Iguazú are there on a package tour so their transport is sorted (airport transfer plus coach or minibus). You should consider doing a package too, especially if you're not too hot with Spanish or Portuguese.

If I am after culture, which are the places or tourist spots that should head my wish-list in Brazil? Could you kindly recommend any blog that has good travel information on Brazil?

Why would you want a blog when you have a forum here where many people can provide answers to your questions?

You must first realize Brazil is a huge country! Its the size of the entire US. Some of my personal favorites parts of Brazil are: The Amazon, Rio de Janiero, Iguazu Falls, Salvador, The Pantanal, and Sao Paulo.
