things to do on the Carmel area of Big Sur

we'd like to explore California's Central Coast this spring with all the family, and I was wondering what Carmel is like for a base? are accommodation good in the area?

Carmel is quiet town though it has many museums, coffee shops, art galleries, restaurants and lovely shops that you can explore, though I think the best thing about the Carmel area of Big Sur have to be the dramatic coastal views and outdoor activities!

You can walk along one of the many coast hiking trails, do some wildlife watching from the beach, and even get a chance to spot whales migrating if you travel here in April or May.

There are also plenty of accommodation such as the Cypress Inn and the Carmel Inn & Suites, which are open all year round.
