hi- i need a place for 2 weeks in May in Santa Monica or Venice Beach. I need to also be able to get public transportation to a Santa Monica address while i'm there. Any suggestions? I'd like to keep it in the $50/night range. thanks.

Hi there, To be frank, you will not find a good hotel in Santa Monica or Venice Beach for $50 a night that is actually worth staying in, specially for two weeks. Realistically, you are looking at the $100 mark for a decent place to stay so I have a couple of suggestions: * The Inn at Venice Beach is a nice and affordable hotel given the location near the beach. It includes breakfast, cable TV, a mini-fridge, a coffeemaker, free wireless internet access, an in-room safe, dataports, bathrobes, a hair dryer and a 24-hour fitness center. * The Marina del Rey Hotel is another popular choice located within a bike ride of Santa Monica. It offers cable TV, data ports, a mini-fridge, air-conditioning and free parking. I know, you are on a budget and these two hotels are above your price range but it is worth considering as you would want a comfortable two weeks stay, hassle free. Hope this helps VacationBuddy Last edited by VacationBuddy; 03-17-2009 at 04:42 AM. Reason: more info

well to be frank i am not looking for a good hotel at over $150/night plus tax as i cannot afford to spend over $3000 for 2 weeks in LA. i guess you might say i shouldn't come here at all then but y'know people without lots of money to burn do have a right to travel too. i'm able to look up the standard orbitz/priceline/google map hotels myself. i came here looking for something off the beaten path that someone might know about. i thought this was a legitimate place to do that, not a place where the moderator would just direct me to hotels that he's affiliated with. btw, your links are not correct but i checked those places out. they are nowhere near $100/night. i'm not on vacation...i need a cheap place to hang my hat while i attend a class. i need a place i can get public transportation to where my class is. i need it to be $50 a night or so, no matter what you think i will be comfortable in. so frankly, your condescending tone and suggestions do not help at all.

Geesh Wendy a little rough on Vacation Buddy don't you think? I don't think anything in his email would be considered condescending. Yes he didn't point you to links and resources that might help you but no need to rail on him. Here's an option that might help but he is right that you might have a hard time finding a "hotel" in the area for 50 bucks. Try a "hostel" http://www.venicebeachcotel.com/reservations.html $22-70

ok maybe i didn't take it the right way...sorry travel buddy. in my defense...i didn't ask specifically for a hotel but a "place." i know there are some cheap hotels though which i would prefer since i like my privacy and i am still hoping someone will recommend one that is ok despite the cheap price. not everyone is that picky. i have the name of two already, just wonderin' if there's more out there.

No worries, I only recommended those ones because it's the ones I know of..I read reviews about bed bugs, drug dealers next door, and so on in some other places, so to be on the safe side. VacationBuddy
