California

The state of California is largest state in the US. Home to Disneyland, Napa Valley wineries, the Old Faithful Geyser, and more. It has small towns like Carmel providing its unique charm and larger cities like Los Angeles. Visit Yosemite National Park, surf in the Pacific Ocean or go to one of the many ski resorts.

Smile get a local california experience

Hello there! Are you are coming to Southern California in the next 6 months? Then let me show you around for FREE! Let me explain. Many times I have traveled to different countries and I always thought to myself “I wish I knew someone here that could show me around to local stuff instead of not knowing where to go and getting stuck seeing the touristy stuff”. Then it hit me…..why don’t I do that for people who visit California! So if you arecoming here and want to see what California is really like for people who live here, contact me. I will show you all the local stuff. I live in Laguna Beach, but anywhere close by maybe something could be worked out.

The only thing I ask in return is that my husband and I plan on doing a world trip in 2008. If we come to your town you pay us the same courtesy and showus around where you live. I am hoping we will get to meet some cool & interesting people around the world this way.

My husband and I are in our early 30s and very laid back. You can be any age, with children or without, any nationality, gender, ***ual preference etc. The only thing you can’t be are guys looking “hook up”. Like I said I am married and you would be hanging out with my husband and myself. Also my husband and I do drink, but do not do any drugs and will not get you any.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Interesting concept for a local tour! Also, a great way to get to meet new people. I know you'll be traveling around in 2008 but have you been able to use the "meet a local" for any other trips you've taken? I'm just a bit curious on the success rate.

Actually it is something that I just thought of a few days before posting this so I haven't actually tried it out. I also just found a website couchsurfing.com that is doing the same thing, so I am going to be signing up with them (it's totally free). But I hope it works it really would be a great way to meet new people and get more out of my travel experiences. I'll repost here in a month or so with update.

Neat! I checked out the site. Looks like they've also got security measures that protect people. Thanks for the tip! Definitely come back and let us know about your travels, I'd love to hear about how it all works out with you.

Couchsurfing.com is an ingenius idea, especially for those looking for the more "authetic" traveling experience, though I can understand the "trust" worry. I think it's a great way to travel...well, at least it *sounds* like a great way to travel since I haven't done it personally. It sounds like you're doing something similar, and I wish you the best of luck. I won't be in CA anytime soon though :)

That's a good idea a2ztraveler, but I hope you have methods to weed out the unsavories, and I hope you're not unsavory yourself. If I were to take you up on your offer to hang out in or near Laguna Beach, what would you recommend as an activity? And thanks for letting me know ahead of time that you won't score me any drugs ;)

Hi a2z traveler!
I am actually trying to find something affordable to rent in Laguna Beach. Can you help me by any chance?
