hi, your brother can take the bus from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh instead of boat or flight. Our bus trip was pleasant and comfortable but only thing was we walked long as the the siem reap bus station is a little away from the town. The cost was US$12 and we saw lot of villages along the way. nice isn't it? During our cambodia tour we stayed 3 nights in Phnom Penh. There was a special offer on junior Suite double room in the month of June and the cost was $150.00 including breakfast. If your brother is interested then ask him to call them on (855-63) 964-301) and book the room. Convey my wishes to your brother!

I have travelled from Phnom penh to Siem Reap and from Siem Reap to Phnom penh several times few years back. The travel time took about 4 1/2 hours and the cost was US$25, little expensive, but I had a great time. When I was there the road condition was terrible,so to avoid the bus I took boat trips.but i don't know now the boat trip is available or not, no idea.

hi Jones, 5 hours boat trip between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap is available now and the cost is $25 same as what George said. You can contact any hotel or travel agent to get the ticket or call new Mekong Express on 023/427-518 and they will arrange luxurious boat for $35. In the rainy season, the boat ride take 4 hours and in the dry season it may take 6 hours or more. so in dry season the boat ride is not recommended. Just tell your friend to enquire in the front desk of the hotel in which he is going to stay. Hope this info would be helpful for your friend and good luck on his trip!

By boat
-The fare is about USD 20 to 25.

By bus
- you will reach the bus station of Siem Reap at National Rd 6. It costs USD3.50 to 5 per way and takes at least 5-6 hours.

I tried Frangipani Villa last year and found it cool and nice. It is a quiet place to stay in the city and its room rates ranking from $30-$50. please check hotel's homepage for details.
