Hi there,

You"ll be glad to know that the Canada travel experience is as varied as the country is large. Most people expect Canada travel to be just a colder version of traveling in the United States. However, this is not the case as Canada has a mix of British, French and indigenous customs which is different from the US.

The bilingual signs and products will remind you that Canada is a country where both French and English are the official languages. French is primarily spoken in the province of Quebec, so English- speaking visitors need not be worried if they are not fluent in both languages.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the input! I think, Quebec will be our destination primarily...although we'll take day trips to Toronto as well..

Quebec is quite unique. It's been sometime since I've visited but I live in Western Canada. I would say that here on the Pacific Ocean, we are much more similar to California, Washington, and Oregon. Quebec, is French (obviously) and they like it if you at least try to speak it a little.

You need to try "poutine", a Canadian French fry dish served with cheese curds and gravy. Sounds yuck but is awesome.

You also need to stop in at Tim Horton's. Nothing too special but Canadian's LOVE IT.

Finally, when are you going? They have a winter festival in Quebec city.

Yep. Poutine is definitely a must try, fully agree with ranman

A canadian friend once offered me something that he whipped up and it tasted great!

I got curious and looked up for Poutine...it originated in Quebec!
Would definitely try this food.
