Smile Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a 4 / 5 Star Resort in Punta Cana. I'm working on a trip for my family in April of 2007.

So far, we're considering Paradisus Punta Cana and Club Med as options. We have 2 children 12 and 9 so we need a kid friendly recommendation!

Happy New Year!

A couple of good friends stayed at the Grand Palladium Bavaro Resort & Spa in Oct 2006 and had nothing but good things to say about it. I'd add this to your list to check out. Also I heard they have a Manatee Park nearby with animals, birds and fish. This could be a fun day trip for the kids.

Sirenis Tropical, but use the 5* portion of it only. You've got one bedroom apartment, living room with tv, full bathroom, and one bedroom. You also have a huge balcony and everything is just excellent.

Why travel to another country if you don't intend to experience their culture and way of life?

Well, maybe you do, but from atop a tall steed...?

Excess...

any of the resorts in Punta Cana are good. When I say resorts, I mean the "all-inclusives".

Unhappy Re: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

We stayed at the Grand Paladium Bravaro "resort". We went in March and the weather was beautiful. It was sunny everyday and the temps were in the 90's.
Their beaches could have been maintained better. We were disapointed in the beaches. They recommended that we no drink their water and provided us with bottled water the first day however, we had to purchase our own water on the subsequent days. The food and entertainment weren't great. The servers in the restaurants were friendly. Our room seemed clean and felt secure.
