ways to call the US from Chile

My wife and I will be traveling to Chile on February and we would like to know what's the best or easiest way to call the US back from Chile? is it expensive?

Simplest way to call back the US is to always use the plus (+) symbol before the number. So to call the USA it would be: + 1 (country code for USA) XXX (area code) XXX-XXXX (the number)

If you are talking about a Chile prepay phone, I know on Movistar it is not permitted to call internationally until the number activated for your service is three months old, though you can send text messages to other cell phones internationally.
