Smile who learned Chinese in the US?

Hi!
I have a few questions for anyone in this forum who learned Chinese in the US, or any other country outside China:

1)Did you have to take class? If so, what kind, where, for how long? What did you do for practice?

2)If you learned without class, how did you do it, what kind of materials did you use?

Thanks so much!

Default Re: who learned Chinese in the US?

I've studied Chinese for 4 years (college level), and the entire course was online, so I didn't have to buy anything extra, though I bought lots of books, movies and music to practice with. I loved it! I'd also converse with Chinese friends using voice chat, as well as IMing using hanzi.

To keep up my Chinese and not forget, I do a lot of reading, writing, watching Chinese tv programs and listening to Chinese radio.

The thing about learning Chinese or any language is that it's all about imitating words, and radio is better than TV since you won't have images to rely on.
