I am very interest in the six ancient capitals in China. I have been to five other ancient capitals: Luoyang, Kaifeng, Beijing, Nanjing and Hangzhou. During this holiday, I arrived in Xian and finished my plan to travel in all the six famous ancient capitals. Steeping on the land of Xian, immediately, I feel I have entered into the time tunnel and run back to the mysterious Silk Road and saw the extravagance of royal family. Located in Shanxi province, Xian is a very popular tourist destination for its abundant historical relics and cultural heritages. As one of the six ancient capitals, it was capitals of 12 dynasties early or late in the past. Every dynasty has left its characteristics and treasures on this land, making Xian is history museum of Chinese ancient society. My trip began from the world famous Terracotta Warriors and Horses. I am amazed at the skillful figures and can’t help to be moved by the wisdom of ancient Chinese. Having read many stories and poems about the empress Yang, I am very interested in the beautiful empress. Therefore, the Huaqing Hot Spring where Yang had bath is a must-visited for me. I also had a tour to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda where stores the Buddhist scripts which obtained from India. In China, there is classical novel, Journey to the West, describing rough courses of getting the scripts. I have heard the musical fountain near the Big Wild Goose Pagoda; of course, I am not willing to miss the spectacular scenery. As night coming, I squash into the crowd and fascinate by the scenery. I also had a visit to the Ancient Wall. During that trip, I seized the opportunity to climb the Huanshan Mountain which is reputed for its steepness and straightness. Have you ever been to Xian? Which attraction of Xian do you like best? Why not write down your interesting experience and share with others who like Xian.

Xian, the capital of Shaanxi Province, is located in the central area of the Northwest of China. Xian is one of the most ancient capitals in China because Xian had been the capital of 13 dynasties from 1046 BC to 907 AD. During Han and Tang dynasties, Xian was called Changan that literally means "Eternal Peace". For the details of xi'an, you can check china connection tours site.

Of course: I think it's a pretty rare tourist itinerary for China that doesn't include Xian these days. Aside from the obvious (the Terracotta Warriors), the Shaanxi History Museum is really great. In fact, I think if you only went to one museum in China, it would be the best choice. The City Walls are also great - very atmosperic on a misty day. And you can do the full 16km circuit if you have the energy. The Great Mosque and the Muslim Quarter in general are great as well. Wasn't particularly impressed by Huaqing Pool. Rather steep (by Chinese standards) admission price and it's all been completely reconstructed. I don't think foreign tourists would find it particulary interesting. Big Goose Pagoda, Beilin Museum, etc, are all okay, but you can see similar things in other cities in China.
