Steamboat Springs Weekend

My wife & I had a great weekend getaway in Steamboat this past weekend. We had a really good time & got to hike a little too. We hit the Elk Creek area, as well as Fish Creek Falls. We didn't make it all the way up to long lake, but it was still fun.

What a charming name--Steamboat Springs. That's not what I would have expected for Colorado. I need to check out its story. According to the Steamboat Chamber, the city was first a summertime resort where people would come to soak in mineral springs and relax before it turned into a skiing paradise. It got its name from French fur trappers who thought one of the springs sounded like a steamboat. Makes perfect sense, actually.
