Hiking Colorado

we're planning on making a Hiking trip out to Colorado sometime this summer. anyone got a suggestion for the best month to go hiking and where?

Hi there,

Summer time is definitely a great time to enjoy hiking. However, do keep in mind that the higher you hike, the colder it gets ( roughly temperature drops around five degrees per thousand feet of elevation). Therefore, be sure to pack jumpers, sunglasses, sunblock, plenty of water, compass, etc.

For safety purposes, you should consider purchasing the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Search and Rescue card which only costs around $3.

Some popular spots for hiking include:

* Barr Lake, which is nine mile loop around the lake.
* Picture Canyon, which is a four mile loop where you can see Native American petroglyphs and pictographs.
* The Summit County, which is probable the most interesting of these hiking trails because of the ghost towns, old mining camps, etc; you will encounter.
