Costa Rica

The diverse landscapes of Costa Rica allow for great outdoor activities like white water rafting and relaxing at the Tabacon Hot Springs. Explore the Arenal Volcano and view the fiery red glow from the summit. Drive to the Monte Verde Cloud Forest to see the exotic environment and pass through the city of La Fortuna.

Default Re: San Jose to Tabacon

Can you please tell me about how long the drive is from Tilaran to Samara. We will be leaving the Arenal Hotel Parasio early morning and driving to Samara. We are thinking to drive north around lake Arenal. Is there a short cut; like a ferry? if not it still looks shorter and better than back tracking south east through Fortuna and San Ramon? Suggestions?

If you want a nice drive take the 142 north around the lake to Tilaran, then the take the 18 west through Canas to Samara. Its a long bumpy ride but beautiful scenery. Without doing alot of math I think your looking a couple hours from Tilaran to Samara. Its been long enough that I don't remember the details. If you want the quicker route do the backtrack.
