Lightbulb Living in Costa Rica

The idea of living in Costa Rica sounds so appealing. The weather, beaches, surfing, the forests, wildlife, and many other things to do. When does the reality set in once you've done it all in the dream then are you in the same routinue as it was before just a diffferent country? I'm not sure I could leave a city where I couldn't get sushi, thai, indian, pizza, and all the other delicous goodies you find in a big city, it sure would be an adjustment. I've know a few people that have done the seasonal living in Costa Rica "during the dry season and live in Seattle during the "dry season" in theory it sounds great but then after you start sorting out the practical matters of day to day life and it quickly becomes complicated when you roll in one child+education and two households. Has anyone sorted this out?

We're going to sell our place and make the big move. It's snowing here today and supposed to go below zero tonight; our Artic blast is supposed to last for about a week, if not longer and no telling what will follow, as we can have 8 months of winter here, and longer. We've even had snow 3 feet deep at Easter time, and it has snowed on the 4th of July, so, with each event, and each decrease in temperature, Costa Rica looks better and better to us. Grew up in Hermosa Beach in Southern California, and so this isn't the weather for us, and besides, we miss the ocean and the type of people who flock to it. Costa Rica sounds like a "Paradise" to us, even though we know there will be some serious and hard to take trade offs at times. Still - just look at all it has to offer.

I've been living in Costa Rica for past 6 months (having moved from England) and i must admit, i love the environment and weather here. Everyone is alot more friendly here, and the climate beats that of ol' foggy town.

I did go home at christmas, and as much as i miss my family and friends, it was good to be back here in the warmth. Got to love going to the beaches!
