Costa Rica

The diverse landscapes of Costa Rica allow for great outdoor activities like white water rafting and relaxing at the Tabacon Hot Springs. Question Carbon Neutral Travel Options in Costa Rica?

I heard a report on NPR the other day about how Costa Rica is trying to become the first carbon neutral country on the planet. In it they mentioned a Costa Rican air carrier that rolled carbon offsets into the price of flying with them. I wish I could remember their name.

But that got me wondering: are there other travel providers in Costa Rica that include carbon offsets in their services - whether it be a bus line, car rental, ferry or charter air line?

I know I could always purchase the carbon credits myself online, but I like to reward the companies that try to be as green as possible on their own initiative.

NatureAir is promoting the fact that they are the worlds first carbon neutral airline. I just flew a flight with them yesterday and they had it right down to recycling cans at the smallest airport. Nice work on their part.

Thanks d360! That was the airline that was mentioned in the NPR story.

Does anyone know of any other transportation services in Costa Rica that do the same thing - boats, planes, trains or automobiles?

Im afraid not to my knowledge i don't. I have also read similar articles to what you're saying tamarindo, and from what i gather is that they want to become carbon neutral by 2020.

Don't hold me to that 100%, but thats the figure that comes to mind when i remember what i had read.
