| As far as I have been told, you can't take a rental car across the border (but it never hurts to call your rental car company to confirm). But you can save yourself the drive by taking the bus with either TransNica (Nicaraguan bus company) or TransTica (Costa Rican bus company). I did it a few weeks ago and it is normally relatively painless. It is $25 round trip from the Central Valley (I picked the bus up in San Ramon) to Granada. It was approximately a 7 hour trip including a rest stop and both immigration and custom stops at the border (and they take care of getting your passport stamped). The buses have a bathroom and usually movies showing as well. Good luck, Sharyn |
