Costa Rica

The diverse landscapes of Costa Rica allow for great outdoor activities like white water rafting and relaxing at the Tabacon Hot Springs. Explore the Arenal Volcano and view the fiery red glow from the summit. Drive to the Monte Verde Cloud Forest to see the exotic environment and pass through the city of La Fortuna.

Default San Jose to Tabacon

I am headed back to Costa Rica for the 2nd time in 2 years. Can anyone remind me the travel time from San Jose to Arenal (We are staying at Tabacon) - Wonderful place and need to schedule our adventure for the day that we arrive.

Thanks in advance.

Tabacon is a truly wonderful place, one of the most romantic places I've ever been. Even though its only about 150 kilometers (93 miles) from San José the trip takes a little longer than you would expect. You should plan on being on the road for about three and a half hours. I would recommend driving in the morning when traffic is the lightest and avoid the drive after dark since the roads tend to be in poor condition and riddled with pot holes. Since it's only been two years since your last trip I'm sure you remember the condition of the roads and the general speed of traffic, though its definitely worth it once you get there.

Hope this helps refresh your memory. Enjoy your trip!

Yes, Tabacon is one of the most wonderful places that I have been...And yes.. the roads are not much to speak of .. but the view is wonderful during the drive. Thank you for your information.
