| We will be doing the western caribbean cruise November for the second time. Last year we did zip line and cave tubing with Donald Ramirez of " Action Boys Belize." In November we will be doing a combination of altun ha and baboon sanctuary in Belize. We are also having Donald as our personal guide again. Can any one suggest activities for port of Roatan and Cozumel? Thank you in advance Aretha |

| Hi Aretha, Here it is some of the activities you can do: In Roatan: The West End is the most tourist-centered part of the island. Here you'll find the best selection of shops, restaurants and bars. West End does not have a bank so remember to bank in Coxen Hole. Catch a cab from the dock to West End, but negotiate a rate beforehand. Expect a hair-raising taxi ride, especially if the roads are wet. Another great thing to do in Roatan is vising its beautiful white sandy beaches which are located at West Bay Beach. To get there, catch a taxi from the port or a water taxi from West End Village. Good snorkeling is possible right offshore since the living coral reef is located a short swimming distance from the beach. In Cozumel: Chankanaab, located ten minutes from downtown, is a wonderful place to spend the day. Snorkeling is available inches from shore, so its a good spot for young swimmers to try snorkeling for the first time. Scuba diving and snuba (walking submerged on the ocean floor with an air helmet on) is also available. The most popular activity at the park is the dolphin interaction program through Dolphin Discovery. Another interesting activity is the sea lion swim, also through Dolphin Discovery. On a recent cruise to Cozumel, my family voted the sea lion swim as our cruise highlight. The park also contains large, free-roaming iguanas, replicas of Mayan stone art and a botanical garden. The parks charges a $10 admission fee. Then you have, Playa Sol Beach which is a private beach very popular with the cruise lines. Be forewarned-it might be crowded! The entrance fee of $6 covers use of a fresh-water swimming pool, showers, restrooms, kayaks, peddle boats, water trampolines, entrance to the small zoo and children's playground. There is a full-service restaurant and three bars. Taxi rides from the piers to Playa Sol run approximately $14 each way ( 4 passengers per taxi). |
