We've been tossing around some ideas and me and my wife are having trouble deciding where to go so I would love some help. As an anniversary trip, my wife and I are getting a free flight anywhere in Latin America for 10 days. We'll be paying for accommodation though, so I am wondering what place is nicest but also cheapest. How much much a day per person would we roughly need to spend? Thanks!

Not having to worry about flight tickets, anywhere in south America is great, but to narrow it down for you with options here it is some ideas. You can live on $45 a day in places like Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, as lodging and food expenses are very cheap, though, allocate a bit more cash if you intend on doing fun tours like a zip line tour, Jeep and jungle tours. However, if you want to go the touristy route, you may want to book a vacation rental or an all inclusive resort by the beach, and have tours and excursions arranged for you by the hotel concierge. Either way, you'll have a blast in South America, people are so nice and hospitable, and if you mingle with the locals you'll find out the best places to eat and cheap lodging.

Well, Peru offers you a variety of attractions, since we have the Andes, the ocean pacific coast and the amazonic jungle. In an hour or so by plane, you can change from a sunset in the pacific ocean to the majestic Machu Picchu, an Inca´s fortress in the top of a very high hill, looking to the amazon jungle (one of the 7 modern wonders of the world), or in 3 hours you can arrive to the land of Nazca lines, those mysterious lines built on theground by an ancient culture before Incas and that can be only seen by air. Not to menction the vibrant and modern city of Lima, the capital, where you can have a lifetime experience with our gastronomical offer, very well known and prized many times, since we have a mix of many flavors: ancient andean, spanish, chinese, and african, yeah, wow is the word for this kind of gastromy. Ask for our piscosour, our arroz con pollo, papa a la huancaina, ceviche, turron de doņa pepa, and hundreds of options... just say, "sin aji por favor" if you do not like chili, ok?
