| In the South America, I've heard of people negotiating room charges with the hotel if they stay for about a week or so, which would guarantee the hotel a customer. Is that true? |

| this is funny .. Everything in South America is up for negotiating. Especially if you are a foreign traveler. If you are talking about hostels and incespensive 3 stars hotels it is by all means the case. But for upper hol levels, 4 and 5star bargaining will not work. Another info for buying handcrafts, always offer half what they ask for. Hope it helps..

| Well never say never. I've stayed at Hotel Libertador in Cusco Peru and I received about 15% off rack rate for four days. That was Peru and this Ecuador so it may be different. It never hurts to ask! |
