Tropicana and Luxor or one or someplace else?

I originally booked 4 nights at the Luxor. In a pyramid room for about $45/night. Then I read MANY reviews and saw the complaints about how big it is, 45 min check-in times, and crowded pools etc and I thought maybe we could stay in another hotel for 2 nights.

I am thinking about the Tropicana mainly for the pool. I hear they are awesome. I know it is dated and mirrors on ceiling etc. That really does not bother me. In fact my crazy dh likes that idea LOL. I have booked 2 nights there for $49 and $35.

I can not spend a fortune on a room that has luxury and the nice pool, but am now wondering what I should do. Maybe I should stay those other 2 nights on the other side of the strip instead of at 2 so close together?

We are going 8-9-8/13. I appreciate any help. WE have never been to Vegas and really want this to be an awesome experience for my hubbys 50th Bday without spending a lot of $ in the process.

Hi, I wil be in Las Vegas in April 2009 with my husband. (10 th year Vegas wedding anniversary)
We booked the journey from France, through a travel agency which proposed a room at the Monte Carlo Hotel.
I v'e been reading a lot of critics about the building area all over the Monte Carlo Hotel (I think that's the Hyatt and City center beeing built here)....
Can someone tell me if the works will be finished by the month of April ?
Can someone tell me if that's really a pain concerning view and noise ?
I still can switch my booking and go to the New York New York, can someone tell me if that's the right thing to do ?
Thanks for the answers.

The Palms is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. Not only are the prices reasonable but they also have great restaurants and a fantastic nightlife. N9NE Steakhouse is amazing, which is located in the Palms for those of you who are unaware. Also the nightclubs within the Palms are pretty great themselves. Moon, one of the nightclubs in incredible.. the roof is retractable! Absolutely insane! I would recommend the Palms to anyone, I had a fantastic experience there.
