Corfu: Try the Traditional Cuisine Made of Local Ingredients

Corfu Island is located on the vast Ionian Sea. Over the years it has become a popular tourist destination among travelers.

This island enjoys pleasant climatic conditions. You will not find a perfect sunny weather during your stay on this island and maybe some showers.

Corfu’s beautiful verdant vegetation is due to the island receiving the highest rainfall that results in scores of vegetables and herbs to thrive in this region. The vast mountains are interrupted by valleys of olive plantations and other local vegetable products that are grown by the villagers. Corfu’s cuisine in fact has played a significant role in developing the tourism infrastructure on this island.

At a Corfu hotel, you can observe that a lot of importance is given to the food that is served to guests and visitors. One Corfu hotel is distinguished from another by that very special item that is available at the Corfu hotel restaurant. There are plenty of famous Corfu dishes that can be available at the Corfu hotel of your choice.

These dishes can be sampled into two categories, one that has subtle Mediterranean flavours and another that has strong Venetian flavours. Use of large proportions of olive oil in the dishes can be observed. The Mediterranean dishes usually comprise of meat, fish, vegetables and olive oil whereas the Venetian dishes consist of spicy mixture of different ingredients and pasta.

Corfu Hotel: Comforts and Relaxation in The Most Popular Ionian Island

It was about in the late 1970s that Corfu developed its tourism facilities and was getting ready to welcome the millions of tourists who would come...

It was about in the late 1970s that Corfu developed its tourism facilities and was getting ready to welcome the millions of tourists who would come to the island. Corfu, out of all the Greek islands, was the first to develop such amenities probably due to its geographical location, which is very close to Europe, and its cultural background. As Corfu had been long ruled by the Venetians and the British, from the Medieval Age since the late 19th century, its residents had learned to be more familiar in receiving foreigners and more open-minded in new and innovative ways of lifestyle.

That is how Corfu turned into a popular tourism destination and people from all over the world come to enjoy the sunny weather, the beautiful beaches, the traditional villages and the facilities of a Corfu hotel. Such a Corfu hotel, warm, welcoming and comfortable, can be found in almost every spot of the island, more often in the beaches and rarely along the mountainside. It is up to the visitors to choose his favorite Corfu hotel to spend vacations.

Certainly most people choose their Corfu hotel to be close to the beach as summer is always the best season to visit this gorgeous island. You avoid spring and autumn rains and you enjoy the warm sea. However, the island is slowly also developing an agricultural tourism and many people choose it to deal with countryside jobs. Note that Corfu has vast areas with olive trees and also that a special kind of fruit, the kum quat, is produced mostly in the northern parts of the island. Therefore, a lot of agricultural work needs to be done and many volunteers want to come and help the locals in gathering, producing, processing and selling products.

In any case, a Corfu hotel and Corfu apartments always make sure that their visitors are satisfied with their services and facilities. Their amenities do not fall short for the amenities of international beach resort, plus they have one more advantage: the welcoming smile of the owners. That is the good thing with a Corfu hotel, the visitor feels at home and can develop friendly bonds with the locals. This characteristic is more obvious in Corfu apartments, which are smaller, less impersonal and friendlier.

As said before, the main goal of a Corfu hotel is to make people feel comfortable and satisfied. You will find there ample rooms with view to the crystal blue Ionian Sea or the green mountainside, lovely gardens surrounding the Corfu apartments, large pools with sun beds and umbrellas around it, pool bars to have a drink or two and friendly staff. Most Corfu hotels and Corfu apartments are located in a close distance from the beach and have been constructed with special attention to their aesthetics in order to meet the unique traditional architecture of the island and mostly not to spoil the lovely natural environment and the traditional character of Corfu.
