Default Driving in Florida

Hi, im travelling to Florida at the end of this year to visit a friend who lives there. He has his own car and i was wondering if i would be able to drive his car whilst im there? I hold a full UK licence and have done so for 1 and a half years and im 19 years old. Im not sure if i would be legally able to drive his car, and if not, is there some kind of temporary insurance i could get that would enable me to drive the car for the 2 weeks i am there.

Thanks.

You have to be over 21 to be able to drive legally in the states. Having said this, you can get what is called a short term car insurance, and you will be able to get cover for two weeks

Sorry! Yes, car rental, that is.

I'd advice to carry with you both the licence and the green paper part of the licence as you may need it. Also, look into applying for an International Driving Permit as it can be useful, should you encounter a problem with the law when driving in Florida.
