Clearwater and St Augustine would make great day trips from Orlando and they're only around 2 hour's drive to get to.

Clearwater has the lovely beaches, while St Augustine has loads of more interesting places to visit such as the town centre which is filled with old nice buildings, a fort, shops and restaurants. There are also a couple of state parks such as Anastasia state park where you can go for some beach time.

I would certainly drive 45 minutes to Kennedy Space Center and do a tour of the NASA facility--it is both educational and fascinating

Kennedy Space Center is definitely a good one day trip. I would also try to squeeze in Daytona Beach as well. But it all depends on your energy and willingness to spend a long day under hot sun.

2. Kennedy Space Center is best option, above all it depends on your choice; it is all about space exploration; amazing museum.
3. Daytona Beach - It is all about sun, sand and surf; get amazing ocean view best for NASCAR fan.
4. Tampa - upscale shopping and museums while Clearwater Beach offers warm waters and powdery white sand.
5. Silver Springs - It is commercial tourist attraction with glass-bottomed boat rides, animal exhibits, and jeep safaris through the Florida forest.
6. Ocala National Forest - world’s largest sand pine forest is known for hiking, fishing, and canoeing.
7. Mount Dora - You can see lovely lakefront, citrus groves, Victorian architecture, boutique shopping, and lovely lakefront.
8. Sebring - has a charming downtown district and its nearby Highlands Hammock State Park offers campsites and hiking trails.
9. Blue Spring State Park - In winter visitors enjoy snorkeling and canoeing .
