|  Closest Airport to Key West Hi Folks, I know a lot of people are excited about visiting Key West, and one of the biggest issues about planning a visit is how to get there. Key West has an airport right on the island, and it can be reached via connection through several airports in Florida, the Bahamas, and Atlanta, but the most exciting part about Key West is the journey, the drive. The nearest airport for taking the drive is Naples at 109 miles followed by Miami at 130 miles, giving you plenty of time and space to enjoy one of the most beautiful drives in the United States.

 | Re: Closest Airport to Key West I regularly drive from the Tampa area to Key West and love the drive on Highway U.S. 1 (the Overseas Highway) as it is beautiful and with so many places to stop and explore. The distances and times however are as follows: Naples to Key West via I-75, the Florida Turnpike and US 1: 247 miles and about 5 hours driving Miami to Key West via I-95, the Florida Turnpike and US 1: 161 miles and about 3 hours driving Key West International Airport is small and can only accomodate up to Boeing 737's or Airbus 320 aircraft and most planes are much smaller regional jets and turboprops. The next nearest airport is in Marathon about 50 miles away but it is primarily a small plane airport., The next nearest three major airports and there distances to Key West are: Miami (MIA): 155 miles Ft, Lauderdale (FLL): 188 miles Fort Myers (RSW- known as Southwest Florida International Airport on the Gulf Coast): 298 miles
