Capt. Tony passed away this weekend in Key West :-( Anthony "Capt. Tony" Tarracino, who lived in Key West since 1948, passed away this weekend at age 92.
Captain Tony's Saloon will be his legacy but he was also a charter boat captain, gambler and a gun runner for Cuban mercenaries during the Bay of Pigs invasion. and he was a former mayor of Key West .
Married four times and father of 13, he had a film titled "The Cuba Crossing" recount his story with Stewart Whitman playing Captain Tony. He was also memorialized by musician and longtime friend Jimmy Buffet, in the song "Last Mango in Paris." Captain Tony also authored a book "Life Lessons of a Legend".
He will be missed by all that enjoyed his greetings as you walked into Capt. Tony's Saloon and for anyone that had the opportunity to hear some of his stories and enjoy a laugh with him.
Cheers to your life, Capt. Tony! :-) Fantasy Fest won't be the same without you.
