| My husband and our friends are deciding on one week getaway in France to explore some of the ruins there. Where in France will we find the best or most popular roman ruins? |

| The South of France is where you will fin the best Roman Ruins such as Pont du Gard, Vaison-la-Romaine, Theatre Antique d’Orange and Arnès d’Arles. For me, Pont du Gard (in Nimes) is one of the most beautiful Roman ruins outside of Rome. It’s incredible to walk across it and imagine how this ancient Roman aqueduct would've been built across the Gard River. It stands over 160 feet off the ground and is constructed of three levels, and believe it or not, it took them over 15 years to complete it!

| Pont du Gard is absolutely amazing. If you can, try to get at least a whole day off and rent a canoe upstream to go through it. The views from down there are fantastic. Other Roman ruins in France that I like are, surprise, surprise, in Paris - I am not joking. The Thermes de Cluny are Roman baths that are well worth a look, the Roman theatre as well (more for its flair than architectural impressiveness) and you can back it all up with a visit to the catacombs which give you the historical background and much more. |

| I reckon that Arles in Marseille-Provence is one of the best roman ruins in France. This ruins used to be the political hub of this former Roman settlement, and it is today the focal point of the city’s nightlife. Arles ruins boast a massive arch-ribboned amphitheater (Les Arenes) which is the heart of any visit to this old city. |
