France

Great food and wine are just some of what France has in store. Prior to 1930, the Eiffel Tower stood as the tallest structure in the world and is the icon of Paris. Housing some of the most spectacular works of art is the Louvre with over 35,000 pieces. For more culture visit the Palace of Versailles but for outdoor activities, every July the Tour de France runs through the country.

Default Mont Blanc Climbing

Mont Blanc also known as "La Dame Blanche" (French, the white lady), in the Alps, is the highest mountain in Western Europe. Its height is about 4,808 m. The summit is ascended by an average 20,000 mountaineer-tourists each year and can be considered an easy, yet long, ascent for someone who is well trained. Though each year the Mont Blanc massif takes many victims, and during peak season around August the local rescue service flies an average of 12 missions.

Recently the The mayor of Saint-Gervais has called for a permit system to climb Mont Blanc. permit for mont blanc. Wait to see if this happens..

For lodging two popular towns near Mont Blanc are Chamonix, in Haute-Savoie, France and Courmayeur, in the Aosta Valley in Italy.
