1. What not to do in Berlin. The "East Side" is more trendy...more bars/dining/nightlife/sights, so it will also be a bit more expensive.
Here's a good place to stay. Who knows if it's in your budget, but I stayed here on business once and I had zero complaints.

Here's a good spot to stay...it's a Sheraton and it's a good location when thinking of where the tents are...just a short walk. But it's already May so you will want to start calling now and trying to make reservations. If it's booked, be like George Costanza and start moving out in concentric circles. With all the drinking going on, you don't want to be driving and cabbing around can add up, $$$ wise.
4. While I'd be tempted to get to Prague as early as possible, I also think, it being Oktoberfest, that you'd have NO problem finding enough to do in Munich for more than just one day. So yeah...plan for a couple days in Munich.
