Germany

Germany has rich culture tradition and beautiful landscapes. The famous Oktoberfest can be experienced starting in September through October. For those traveling in the Christmas season, be sure to stop by Kris Kringle Mart. Only hours away from Munich are resorts in Germany and ski areas are best found at the Bavarian Alps.

Default Kiel Area???

I'm going to be in Kiel for Kiel week this year, but was hoping someone out there might have a recommendation for anything interesting in the local area...preferably something with historic/cultural value. Thanks for the help.

Be sure not to miss the International Market on the Rathausplatz, food specialties from many different countries can be eaten.

Also have have something called Culture Week which is comedians, clowns, magicians, acrobats and pantomimes. The whole range of small-scale performing arts will be on the streets.

Kiel’s museums and galleries will all have special exhibitions.

For all you that don't know Kiel Week is an annual sailing event in
Kiel, Germany. It is the largest sailing event in the world.

Germans love their soccer....or, futbol, so if they're in season, check out the local team! Aww, nevermind, Kiel Week occurs during the two months or so of off-season. I've been around Kiel but never in the town, but friends have enjoyed the small-town atmosphere and the laid-back nightlife. If you get bored you can always take a daytrip or something south to Hamburg ( ~ 1 hour drive) or even north into Denmark.
