Wink day trips from Heildelberg

Ok - the count down has really begun! We are getting so excited about our upcoming trip. After Munich and Rothenberg.. we will be staying in Heidelburg for a week and plan on taking the train for many day trips.. kinda winging it - so to say - but I would love any suggestions on day trips in this area.
Thanks a bunch!

Default Re: day trips from Heildelberg

A day trip to Heidelberg on the train would be a good choice. My German friend took me to Heidelberg for a weekend on my birthday in August. Heidelberg, a lovely, beautiful and romantic city is having Churches, narrow streets with many shops and restaurants. We have gone for a half-day excursion and explored the Schwetzingen Castle and Gardens. The gardens were big and wilder with follies. After looking round the gardens, we had our lunch on the market square. Then back to Heidelberg for the afternoon. Next day we visited old castle which is one of the most famous attraction there. Every Sunday night there is a firework and it looks very beautiful. There are couple of bridges across the river and one is closed for visitors for the fireworks view. Fireworks will start at 9pm, but you should be there in advance in order to get a nice spot to see everything. Go quick, because most of the people will go there. Our trip was very nice, hope yours too!
